Animal Defenders International Lion Donation WIP02

Hi Everyone!!

First and foremost..... I hope all of you are staying safe on the East coast.  Please, please take care of yourselves... that is the number one thing you need to think about.  My thoughts are with each and every one of you.

Here is the next update on my sweet lion named Simba.  He is such a gorgeous boy and I love watching him and telling everyone about him when I am volunteering my time at PAWS.

I'm still doing some work on the nose so please don't judge that yet.  He's done in mostly Prismacolor and Derwent Studio Colored Pencils on Suede mat board.  You are only seeing part of the upper half of what will be the finished piece.

This piece will be donated to Animal Defenders International (ADI).  ADI was the organization that were instumental in getting the the lions to PAWS.  They are also paying for the care and habitat for the lions at PAWS.  They are a wonderful group of people who are very passionate about freeing animals from the deplorable conditions in the circus' and any other deplorable conditions all around the world.  Simba was one of the lions who was released from the Bolivian circus.  He and three others from Bolivia, are now living a wonderful life in there very very large habitat at PAWS.

If you should have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to speak up.  And.... don't forget to keep scribbling!!!!

Cheers, Gemma

  1. Simba is beautiful! So wonderful to hear that he is living a good life now.
I'm not exactly 'east' but here in Ottawa Canada the wind has been very, very strong today. So far we have been spared the rain. My thoughts are also with the people I know who are in the storm's path...

  2. Hi Teresa!!

First off... I am so glad that you are OK. Here on the West coast we keep seeing all of the loss there on the East Coast. It's really sad!

Thanks for your kind comment about my Simba boy!!

  3. It is beautifiul! I am very happy that you support such great organizations. These creatures are so valuable, and they don't have a voice. Kind hearts like you are speaking for them.
Love to see the detail emerging from a line drawing on a grid. Wonderful!

  4. Awww, thank you Barbara!! I have to say though.... volunteering for an organization like PAWS and ADI... is really great fun and it allows me to be so close to my true love... The Animals! They are such majestic creatures and I personally think we can all learn from them. I could watch them for hours, they are so incredible.
